Why management consultants choose to go independent

The Consultancy.uk website recently published the results of a survey of over 900 independent consultants worldwide, including in the UK.  The survey found that consultants who had decided to go into business for themselves achieved a range of benefits, in particular having more flexibility and more free time and greater freedom to decide which topics to work on and which clients to work for.  However UK-based independent consultants were worried about the impact of new IR35 regulations due to be introduced in 2021.
