Consultants operating as independents need to respond rapidly to clients’ needs but rarely possess all the capabilities required to sell and deliver, particularly when competing with larger established firms. How can solo consultants and small firms develop their ability to form effective teams rapidly from their professional networks? It’s an essential skill and in this joint event with CMCE, Richmond Group and Jungledrum we built on the latest research into this area and shared our own experiences.
The discussion was initiated by 2022 CMCE Research Award winners David Cross and Juani Swart, who presented their research into effective Project Network Organisations, including case studies that identified the factors and mechanisms that contribute to success. We then developed these ideas and shared experience in breakout groups. This workshop was held on Zoom to widen participation – and also because online videoconferencing is increasingly the default medium for team formation.
